Fans thought maybe they met on the set of Young Sheldon, since Rex has a recurring role in the series and McEntire made a guest appearance on the show in early 2020. There was also the chance they could have met even earlier, at the 2019 Western Heritage Awards, where Reba’s dad Clark McEntire was being posthumously inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners. Rex served as the emcee of the event.

But neither of those guesses are correct! Reba finally revealed when and where she and Rex met…and it turns out they’ve known each other far longer than anyone thought.

During an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Reba revealed that she and Rex first met in 1991. She said they met on the set of Kenny RogersThe Gambler movie, in which Reba played Burgundy Jones.

We were both on that in 1991 and we’ve kept in contact with each other over the years and we both know the same people,” Reba told Andy.

Reba was married to her now ex-husband Narvel Blackstock when she and Rex first met. After she and Narvel split, she went on to date Skeeter Lasuzzo for two years before they called it quits in 2019.

Then in January of this year, Reba got back in touch with Rex and the two met up for dinner. The longtime friends immediately found themselves falling head over heels for each other.

In an interview for the ABC special called Country Strong 2020: Countdown to the CMA Awards, Reba said she is now “in love” with Rex and that he makes her feel like a “giddy teenager again.” They put their love on full display at the CMA Awards, which they attended together.
