Reba McEntire’s Former Reba Co-Star Joins The Cast Of Her New Show

If you haven’t heard, country music superstar Reba McEntire is getting a new show on NBC!

The news comes over 20 years after the debut of McEntire’s namesake sitcom, Reba. The show aired across six seasons from 2001-2007.

Some of McEntire’s co-stars included Melissa Peterman, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Christopher Rich, and Steve Howey.

Fans have been begging for a Reba reboot or reunion for years. The cast would love to reunite for something new, but plans haven’t fallen into place.

A Mini Reba Reunion Of Sorts Is Happening On Reba McEnire’s Upcoming Sitcom

But, Reba fans will get the chance to see McEntire reunite with one of her former co-stars on her new NBC sitcom. Not many details are known about the show, except that McEntire will play a character named Bobbie.

The show’s logline reads:

Bobbie [played by Reba] inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.”

McEntire eventually shared the show’s name in a social media post on May 7. It’s titled Happy Place.

On March 18, Deadline shared that Hocus Pocus 2 and Blue Beetle star Belissa Escobedo joined the cast as Bobbie’s sister, Isabella.

Deadline also revealed that one of McEntire’s former Reba co-stars will play another character on the new show. Melissa Peterman, who played Barbara Jean on Reba, will now play a bartender named Gabby on the upcoming, still unnamed program.

Peterman and McEntire have remained close friends ever since Reba wrapped. They’ve co-starred in other projects too, including Young Sheldon, Baby Daddy, and the Lifetime movie The Hammer.

Peterman is thrilled to be working with her best friend again. In a post on Instagram, she said:

This. This is why I have been smiling ALL the time. I am thrilled to share the news that I get another chance to work with my friends. Buckle up @reba We are going to have some fun!

Peterman and McEntire’s fans were also excited to learn about their upcoming reunion. Some of the comments on Peterman’s post were:

We are looking forward to McEntire’s new show even more than before now that we know it’s going to serve as a mini Reba reunion!
