Riley Green joins Miranda Lambert for her Music for Mutts benefit concert
On Saturday (October 5), Miranda Lambert brought a talented group of friends, including Little Big Town, Dan + Shay, Riley Green, and more, to Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, TN, for her Music for Mutts benefit concert.
The event raised funds for Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation, a donation-supported 501c(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to “promote the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay and neuter, and educate the public about the benefits of these actions.”

Miranda Lambert launched the foundation 15 years ago with her mother, Bev, and since then, they have raised over $9 million in support of their cause. Most recently, MuttNation donated $100,000 to help care for and transport animals affected by Hurricane Helene.
Prior to the concert, MuttNation hosted an adoption event with the help of many local animal rescues in middle Tennessee.

About Riley Green’s heartfelt ballad, “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died”
Riley Green co-wrote “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died” and released it as a part of his debut studio album Different Round Here. The Alabama native was reportedly encouraged by fellow country music artist Brad Paisley to record the song. After seeing the response the song received from audiences at his live shows, he agreed.
The sentimental nature and heartfelt lyrics resonated with listeners, and it quickly became a fan favorite. The song is a tribute to Green’s grandfathers, both of whom are listed as co-writers on the track. Consequently, “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died” reached number 12 on both the US Hot Country Songs and the US Country Airplay charts.

Miranda Lambert and Riley Green team up for a duet performance of “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died”
Lambert kept the full lineup of her Music for Mutts concert under wraps, so fans were delighted when country heartthrob Riley Green joined her on stage. The pair sang a duet version of “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died.”
“Had a great time playin for a great cause with some very talented folks,” said Green after the show.
