Rory Feek was married once before he met and fell in love with his future singing partner and wife, Joey Martin. That first marriage produced two children, daughters Heidi and Hopie.
After Rory split with his first wife, he raised the girls on his own. So when Joey came into the picture she took Heidi and Hopie under her wing as if they were her own.
That’s why through the years, you may have heard Joey + Rory call the girls “our daughters.”

Like Joey + Rory, eldest daughter Heidi has a love for music. She has never wanted to sing the exact type of country music her parents did, though she did serve as a part of their band. Heidi even provided backing vocals on her parents’ final album before Joey passed away, Hymns That Are Important to Us.
Heidi’s debut solo record, The Only, was met with great praise upon its release in 2013. The record contained her single, “Someday, Somebody,” as well as her rendition of Elvis Presley‘s “Heartbreak Hotel.”
In more recent years, Heidi has been performing as part of a duo called firekid. She sings with Dillon Hodges, who originally performed solo under the firekid name.
But Heidi and Dillon aren’t just singing partners, they’re partners in life. The pair had been dating for several years before they finally announced their marriage on Tuesday (September 17).
The marriage news came as a surprise to fans of the couple, who managed to keep their wedding plans under wraps. Heidi shared the big news with a short video and a series of photos on Instagram, simply captioning them, “just married” along with a bunch of emojis.

It appears the duo went for a courthouse wedding, as one of the photos in the slideshow Heidi shares shows them standing in front of the Lauderdale County Court House.
Rory was present at the wedding celebration that followed, which appeared to be an intimate dinner attended by family and friends. You can see him in one of the photos by scrolling through the slideshow above.
Heidi later took to her Instagram Story to showcase her new ring. She wrote that she also had some earrings designed to match it.
This is the second marriage for both Heidi and Dillon. In fact, the pair wrote a song inspired by Dillon’s feelings for his ex-wife, titled “XY.”
In a 2018 interview with Billboard, Heidi said she and Dillon had been dating for a few months when they found out his ex-wife had passed away. Even though he was happy with Heidi, he couldn’t keep himself from missing his ex.
They took those feelings and channeled them into song, which is how “XY” came to be.
“I think that people could listen to the song and just think, ‘Oh, that’s kind of a funny thought.’ But, for us, it was coming from a really sad, hard place that we were trying to figure out how to deal with it,” Heidi said.
You can see how well Heidi and Dillon work together when you watch their music video for “XY” below.
Congratulations to the two of them on their marriage! We wish them many years of happiness together.
