Voice Coaches Unite To Sing In First Group Performance Of Season 25
The coaches from Season 25 of The Voice got together ahead of the season premiere to sing for the first time as a group. And they performed a gospel-styled cover of one of the most heartwarming songs of all time.
Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, Chance the Rapper, and John Legend serve as the coaches for The Voice‘s 25th season. Dan + Shay are the newcomers in the group, and also the first-ever duo to serve as a coach on the American version of the show.
This also marks the first time that two country coaches have ever been on The Voice. Dan + Shay know they face some tough competition being up against Reba, whose team member Ruby Leigh placed second on Season 24.
“Who doesn’t love Reba McEntire and didn’t listen to her music and watch her show growing up? That’s stiff competition. She’s very competitive,” Shay Mooney told Billboard.
The Coaches Put A Gospel Spin On “Put A Little Love In Your Heart”
But all competitive feelings were set aside when the five Voice coaches came together for their first group performance of the season. They covered the classic tune “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” which was originally recorded by Jackie DeShannon in 1969.
The Voice coaches gave their version of the song some gospel flair. They took turns singing while a full choir backed them up with perfect harmonies.
As the performance continued, the Voice coaches singing together. The choir moved closer, and soon the Voice stage erupted with the uplifting sound of everyone’s voices.
