Times have been tough for all of us lately. But Reba McEntire and Shelby Blackstock have been left to deal with extra sadness during an already trying time.
On March 14, Reba’s 93-year-old mother, Jacqueline McEntire, passed away following a battle with cancer. Then, just a few days later, Shelby also lost his paternal grandmother, who he affectionately called “Granny.”
But in the midst of such sad times, Reba and Shelby found a little something to celebrate…Reba’s birthday. She turned 65 on March 28.
Reba took to Instagram to share how she spent her birthday during this time of social distancing and self-quarantine. She kicked off the day with a delicious breakfast cooked by her brother-in-law.
“Starting my birthday out with wonderful birthday breakfast of coffee, bacon and pancakes/crepes…” Reba wrote alongside a photo of her tasty breakfast.
Later in the day, Shelby hopped on social media to wish his mama the happiest of birthdays. He posted a sweet note for her to read along with a slideshow of photos from past get togethers they had.
“#happybirthday mom! @reba I love you!!” read Shelby’s birthday greeting for his mama.

Despite everything going on in the world and in her personal life right now, we hope Reba was able to find some joy on her birthday. At the least, we’re sure Shelby’s sweet message made her smile.
