Simon Cowell Weighs In On Carrie Underwood’s Newest Role
Simon Cowell, a judge during Carrie Underwood’s winning season of American Idol, recently shared his insights with E! News’ Will Marfuggi. Cowell discussed Underwood becoming Idol’s newest judge. He told E! News:
“I think it’s a good choice, Carrie, we go back a long way. I remember her audition like it was yesterday. She was so good, she’s such a sweet person.”
Cowell continued:
“You just gotta say how you feel, It’s not that difficult doing this job, I promise you. We all feel the same things and we don’t agree, thank God. Otherwise, life would be boring. And just enjoy it.”
Cowell mentioned he remembered Underwood’s audition “like it was yesterday.” This is not surprising because most would not forget Underwood’s original audition.
The audition started with Carrie’s backstory and her explaining that she was born with a third nipple! After that comical exchange with Cowell, Underwood blew everyone away with an incredibly moving performance.
The audition ended with Underwood clucking like a chicken and receiving a Golden Ticket to Hollywood!

What Do Carrie’s Other Co-Hosts Think?
Underwood will be joined on American Idol’s 2025 season with co-hosts Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Underwood will take over for previous Idol judge Katy Perry.

When Seattle radio host Gabe Mercer interviewed Bryan and asked how he felt about Underwood joining the team, he responded humorously:
“Up her therapist,” Bryan joked. “If she has a therapist, she’s probably going to have to double to deal with me and Lionel.”
He continued the interview by saying:
“Maybe I should credit her. Do therapists do gift cards? Where can I call her therapist and gift her a voucher?”
