On May 24, Aerosmith announced they were canceling the June and July dates of their Las Vegas residency. The band shared that their lead singer, Steven Tyler, had voluntarily checked himself into a treatment program and needed some time away.
Tyler has struggled with his sobriety for many years. He relapsed following a recent foot surgery:
“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years,” Aerosmith’s statement read. “After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.”
The band said they were “truly sorry” they had to cancel their June and July dates. They promised they would return to the stage in September:
“…we’ll let you know any further updates as soon as we can,” the statement continued. “We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows. Thank you for your understanding and for your support for Steven during this time.”

Tyler recently made his return to social media, nearly two months after Aerosmith released their statement.
The rocker and sometimes country singer posted a photo of himself relaxing in an oversized adirondack chair. “MY RULE OF THUMB… A LI’LL TIME OUT NEVER FELT SO GOOD,” Tyler captioned the photo. You can see it below
We’re happy to see Tyler is back! We wish him well and will keep praying for his continued recovery.
