Ingrid Andress went viral after her performance of the National Anthem right before the 2024 Home Run Derby.
The four-time Grammy nominee made headlines after being selected to sing the “Star Spangled Banner” on July 15 at the MLB’s Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas. However, Ingrid faced significant criticism afterward, as her off-key performance and difficulty hitting the high notes disappointed many viewers.

The following day, Ingrid broke her silence about the much-talked-about performance by sharing a statement on her social media, revealing that she was intoxicated at the time.
In her statement, she announced that she had chosen to check herself into a rehab facility to get the help she needed.
“I’m not gonna bulls–t y’all,” she wrote, “I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”
Although Ingrid has faced a lot of backlash over the past week, there is a bright side to the unfortunate incident the country singer is going through.
Billboard reports that Ingrid Andress scored her biggest streaming numbers in nearly two years. Due to people searching her name online, her streaming numbers surged on July 15 and July 16, with her song catalog registering a total of 1.2 million official on-demand streams in the U.S, a 229% increase from her streams prior to her botched performance.
According to Billboard, 941,000 of Andress’ new streams came the day after her performance on July 16, marking her highest streaming day since she garnered 964,000 streams in November 2022 during a pre-Thanksgiving episode of Drinkin’ With on CMT.
Prior to her infamous national anthem performance, Ingrid had been relatively out of the spotlight for over a year, with her last album released in 2022.
Hours before her performance, she did tease an upcoming single on her social media. The track, titled “Colorado 9,” was scheduled for release on July 24. However, it remains unclear if the release will proceed as planned, given her recent announcement about focusing on her rehabilitation.
Her upcoming performances scheduled for this month have been confirmed as canceled. However, shows for August and October are still listed on her official website as of now.
