Episode 1 Recap Of Landman
The first two episodes set the scene for what is gearing up to be a drama-filled show.
We learned that the world of the main character, Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, is complicated, to say the least.
The first shot of the show is Tommy with a bag over his head as he is sent to buy land from the cartel. He does not waver as he makes the deal.

Landman is an explosive show.
Throughout the first two episodes, Tommy puts out fires figuratively and literally. The first episode features multiple scenes of Tommy making a ruthless deal with those they buy land from or who they affect in the oil business.
Tommy is putting out fires in his work life and at home with his ex-wife, Angela, played by Ali Larter, and two kids. Norris has a daughter named Aynsley, played by Michelle Randolph, and a son named Cooper, played by Jacob Lofland.
The family dynamics are central to the series and add drama. None of them get along well, and the reasons for this tension are unclear in the first episode. In the first episode, Tommy spends a lot of time dealing with his daughter’s boyfriend drama.
The Norris family is the central focus of episode 1, while external characters are introduced only briefly. One example is Tommy’s boss, Monty Miller, portrayed by Jon Hamm. The character appears only for a few minutes, and the story primarily unfolds from the perspective of the Norris family.
Episode 1 ends with an explosion in the oil fields and the death of three characters. The quick on-screen deaths set the tone for the fast-paced show.
