ABC has finally made its decision on the future of the singing competition American Idol.
American Idol originally began as a singing competition for FOX and ran for fifteen seasons. The original FOX Network talent show launched several successful artist careers, including Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery, and more. After its fifteenth season, American Idol was on a hiatus for two years before ABC picked up the show. Currently, the competition is in its fifth season at ABC, and Idol is weeks away from announcing the season winner.
The ABC reboot of the series brought back longtime host and fan-favorite Ryan Seacrest. The network also signed on Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie as celebrity judges.
