When Does Season 28 Of The Voice Start & Who Are The Coaches?

With just a few weeks to go until the Season 28 premiere, The Voice has announced the addition of a brand-new rule.

Voice fans have been counting down the days until Season 28 starts. The new season kicks off on Monday, September 22, airing at 8/7c on NBC.

The season marks the return of four fan-favorite coaches: Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg. Every coach except Snoop has won the show at least once, so he’s extra driven to win this season.

Longtime host Carson Daly, who’s been with the show since Season 1, will also return.

The Voice has been sharing short teasers of the upcoming season, which offer a glimpse into the coaches’ dynamics. Although they poke fun at each other, it’s clear they enjoy each other’s company. Some of the promotional clips have even shown Michael wearing socks with Reba’s face on them!

Then, on Wednesday (September 3), The Voice shared its biggest teaser for Season 28 so far, introducing a new rule with serious power to change the game…and it doesn’t even involve the coaches.

Near the end of a one-minute preview video, The Voice briefly showcases their new rule, which they’re calling the “Carson Callback.” This rule gives the show’s host, Carson Daly, a new power he’s never had before.

Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks,” Carson says in the clip. “And I’ve never been able to do anything about it…until now.

The following footage shows a card reading “Carson Callback,” the judges pressing their buttons, and the stage lighting up with the “Carson Callback” message, leaving the coaches in shock. Michael stands up and asks, “What is happening, Carson Daly?!

NBC offered more context behind the “Carson Callback” and how it will work. But they didn’t give everything away, writing:

…it’s safe to assume the Carson Callback will allow Daly to ‘call back’ an Artist who doesn’t advance in the competition. But you’ll have to tune in to learn more about when and how Daly will be able to deploy this new power.
