Michelle Branch of the former country duo the Wreckers has announced her separation from her husband of three years, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney.

Branch had been married once before, to her bass player Teddy Landau. They share a daughter, Owen Isabelle, who was born in 2005. Branch and Landau separated in 2014 and their divorce was finalized in 2015.

Also in 2015, Branch met Carney at a Grammys party. They started dating, and Carney served as the co-producer of Branch’s 2017 album Hopeless Romantic.

Branch and Carney welcomed their first child together, a son named Rhys James, in 2018. They married on April 20, 2019.

In August 2021, Branch shared she was pregnant again. She gave birth to a baby girl in February 2022. She and Carney named their daughter Willie Jacquet in honor of Carney’s grandmother, Willie Madge.

Branch and Carney were seemingly happy living life with their little family. But according to PEOPLE, Branch published a post on Twitter on Wednesday night (August 10) accusing her husband of cheating on her while she was home with now six-month old baby Willie. Branch ended up deleting this post.

The following day (August 11), Branch released a statement to PEOPLE announcing her separation from Carney:

To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” she said. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

PEOPLE reported that a rep for Carney did not respond to their request for a comment.
