The new Yellowstone prequel series 1883 finally debuted on Sunday night (December 19). While the series will be exclusively on Paramount+, the first episode aired on TV following the latest episode of Yellowstone.

Episodes one and two can both be found on Paramount+ at the moment. Both episodes were well-received. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 6.4 million people tuned in to watch the televised broadcast of 1883’s first episode. The Hollywood Reporter states that 1883 was “the most watched series premiere on cable in more than six years.”

1883 stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton. Their characters are the great-grandparents of the main series’ John Dutton. Sam Elliott stars alongside the country music power couple as Shea Brennan, a cowboy with a sad past who is tasked with leading the Duttons and other travelers from Texas to the North.

After 1883 debuted, Tim took to social media to thank his fans for tuning in to the premiere. He made it clear how grateful he is for their support.

Alongside a photo of him and Faith in costume as James and Margaret, Tim wrote:
