When twin sisters Ava and Lily Rashed stepped on stage to sing a modern country song on the competition series America’s Most Musical Family, they ended up being compared to a classic country legend.

Ava and Lily performed one of the hottest songs in country music at the time…Lady A‘s “What If I Never Get Over You.” Released as a single in May 2019, “What If I Never Get Over You” steadily advanced up the charts.

The track peaked at number five on the Hot Country Songs chart and hit number one on the Country Airplay chart.

So Ava and Lily surely knew they had a lot to live up to when they chose to cover “What If I Never Get Over You” on America’s Most Musical Family.

But the twins had nothing to worry about. The judges were enchanted by their performance, with judge Debbie Gibson complimenting the “purity” of their voices.

Debbie then went on to give them even higher praise, drawing comparisons between the twins and country music icon Dolly Parton:

What I love is that you guys have a modern look, you’ve got style [and] your sound is reminiscent of the old-school [country] like Dolly Parton. I could hear that true vibrato in there…[something] people tried to change in me. Don’t let anyone do that to you.”

To no one’s surprise, the twins advanced to the next stage of the competition. They were eliminated the following week, but definitely made their mark on the show!

These two are stars in the making, no doubt about it!
