14-year-old Brecken Merrill, who plays Tate Dutton on Yellowstone, took to social media to remember his late great-grandfather who died recently.
According to a post made on Merrill’s Instagram page, his great-grandpa Robin died and his funeral was held on August 20th. A celebration of his life was the following day.
Merrill’s announcement was accompanied by a photo of himself with his great-grandpa with a request for fans to help honor him by pouring “a cold one out for one helluva guy!”

Brecken plays Kayce and Monica Dutton’s son, Tate, in the Paramount+ hit show. The young actor has been on filming the show’s fifth season in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley and has shared some photos behind-the-scenes.

Merrill got his big acting break with his role in Yellowstone, first appearing in the series in 2018. But, if his success on the hit tv series is any indication, we will be seeing the talented young actor for many years to come.
Yellowstone Season 5 is scheduled to premiere on November 13.
