Lauren Alaina took the “Road Less Traveled” and found a new love along the way! But not without a few bumps in the road of course…
A New Beginning
Back in the summer of 2018, Alaina announced that she and her longtime boyfriend Alex Hopkins were finally engaged! The couple began dating when they were 17 and shared a six-year relationship before things started to get rocky. After a couple of months, the pair decided to call off their engagement as their lives were starting to go down different paths. She shared on social media,
“While we still have love for each other, we’ve grown into very different people over the last six years. We are now in a place where we are each looking forward to starting our own fresh, new chapters of our lives.”
Alaina’s career became her main focus as she joined stars Blake Shelton and the Bellamy Brothers on tour before playing the main stage at Stagecoach Festival in April. Now, Alaina is out on the road again but this time promoting her new single, “Ladies in the ’90s.”
She stopped by The Bobby Bones Show on Wednesday morning and revealed some exciting news – she has a new man! Alaina shared that she has been quietly dating comedian John Crist for a few months now. Crist joined in on the interview as Alaina introduced him as her boyfriend and admitted she actually slid into his DMs first.

Crist told his side of the story, admitting he didn’t know who she was at first. After a little research and some few messages later, the pair had built a quick connection. Things have been smooth sailing ever since!
While the pair shares an 11-year age difference – Alaina being 24 and Christ being 35 – it hasn’t seemed to phase them or their families one bit. Alaina told Bones that the comedian’s family was happy to see him dating after Crist put his career first for years.
The singer and her comedian boyfriend couldn’t keep smiles off their faces as they glanced at each other throughout the interview – even picking fun at one another.
