Blake Shelton Talks About His Potential Return To “The Voice”

The Voice / YouTube

Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice once Season 23 ends next year. After being on the show for every season, Shelton is ready to step away and spend more time at home with his family.

The Voice has changed Shelton’s life in many ways. It offered his career a boost, gave him the chance to form new friendships, and even introduced him to his wife, Gwen Stefani.

Both Shelton and Stefani have served as coaches on The Voice. Their romance blossomed when they were coaching together in 2015.

Stefani is not returning to coach Season 23, which means Season 22 was her last season with Shelton.

After the Season 22 finale (which ended in Team Blake’s Bryce Leatherwood being named the winner), Shelton spoke about his wife’s emotional reaction once the cameras stopped rolling:

“I walked over to Gwen’s chair after the cameras went off and she’s over there literally sobbing,” he told ET. “She was like, ‘This is our last time that we’re going to do this together.'”

Although Shelton is done coaching, he believes Stefani will return to the show in the future. “But it will be the last time she and I do this together, and it is crazy to think of how the show changed my life,” he said.

Shelton shared he may come back on The Voice one day, just in a different role. He spoke about his potential return, saying he’d love to serve as an advisor for his wife’s team.

Oh my god, I’d be honored to be Gwen’s mentor,” he said. “Whatever she tells me to do, I’m gonna do.”

We thankfully have one more season left with Shelton as a coach. The Voice just shared its first teaser for that season, which you can watch below.
