Carrie Underwood Reveals Details Of ‘Emotional, Real’ First Single From New Album

Carrie Underwood

The wait is almost over! In less than 24 hours we’ll have new music from Carrie Underwood, and we can’t wait!

In a lengthy letter to her fan club members, Underwood addressed her recovery from the horrifying fall that left her with a broken wrist and more than 40 stitches to her face.

“Physically, I’m doing pretty darn good these days!  My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there…and the docs say that last 10% will come in time.  And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well.  I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while,” Underwood wrote.

She added that the time off has given her more time with her husband, Mike, and their son, Isaiah.

In addition to spending quality time with her guys, Carrie has been making music. The American Idol winner has been in the studio working on her sixth studio album, a project she is co-producing with writer/producer David Garcia.

“I’ve always been lucky to have a voice in the writing and recording process, but this is the first time I am this involved in the production of my music,” Carrie shared. “David has been an amazing teacher and partner, and I’m so proud of what we have created.”

The album’s first single will be released early Wednesday morning (April 11). It’s a song called “Cry Pretty” and was co-written by Underwood and Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose, and Lori McKenna. Lindsey, Rose and McKenna are the great minds behind the Little Big Town smash hit “Girl Crush, and together have racked up an impressive list of accolades.

“[‘Cry Pretty’] refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life,” Carrie wrote of her new single. “It’s emotional. It’s real.  And it ROCKS!”

In addition to releasing the single Wednesday morning, Carrie Underwood will be performing “Cry Pretty” during the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. We can’t wait! How about you?
