For the season finale of The Voice, each of the top four finalists paired up with a special guest artist to perform one of their hit songs. Each of the finalists – Chevel Shepherd, Kennedy Holmes, Kirk Jay, and Chris Kroeze – were accompanied by an artist that specialized in their genre. This year, country music has been getting big recognition. Jay took the stage alongside Rascal Flatts for “Back To Life”, while Shepherd joined forces with Dan + Shay.
A Star Is Born
16-year-old Shepherd has been stealing the hearts of Voice fans since her very first audition. Thanks to her undeniable talent, she received a three-chair turn during her blind audition of “If I Die Young.” A heartfelt moment surprised the coaches and the crowd when the young teen picked Clarkson’s team over Shelton’s after showing admiration for the “Honey Bee” singer. Her southern twang alongside her bubbly personality earned her a spot in the Top 4.
A “Speechless” Performance
For her finale performance, she graced the stage with the popular country duo Dan + Shay. The duo has been making a name for themselves in the country music world since 2012. All three of their albums have topped the charts alongside four of their hit singles including “Tequila.” Their current hit, “Speechless” has been soaring across the charts for several weeks.
As Dan + Shay took the stage with Shepherd in the middle, Shay began to sing the soft melody of “Speechless.” Shepherd, who stunned in a sparkly maroon gown, belted out her first round of vocals. As the singers stood in the middle of the stage surrounded by cloud-like fog, they harmonized for the breathtaking chorus. As the bridge begins to break down to just a piano ballad, Shepherd and Shay took turns switching off for the vocals.
Following their stunning performance, the crowd had endless applause.
Shortly after the performance, Chevel Shepherd went on to win Season 15 of The Voice! Congrats to this young country-singin’ star. We can’t wait to see what is in store for you next!
