Lane and Bushnell wasted no time to say “I do” after going public with their relationship less than a year ago. The couple moved in together in March, and got engaged in June.

Lane and Bushnell have known each other since 2015, but it wasn’t until August 2018 that the two got to know each other. Lane says that he “randomly asked” Bushnell to join him and a group of friends in the Bahamas for vacation. It was during their time in the Bahamas that the couple began to have feelings for each other, but Bushnell says that Chris used the “entire trip to completely scare me away.” She explained that “he talked about how he wanted to be single forever, how he didn’t know if he wanted kids.”
Bushnell admitted that she had her guard up as well after having been through a very public relationship and breakup during her time on The Bachelor. Lauren was chosen by bachelor Ben Higgins as the winner of his season and the two became engaged during the season finale in 2016. The relationship lasted until the next year.
Bushnell ultimately found love with country singer Chris Lane. The beautiful couple wed in front of 160 family members and friends. With the help of Josiah Carr of Ninth & Everett, Bushnell had the wedding of her dreams at Nashville’s 14TENN, an industrial event space that they converted into an indoor garden.
“I really wanted to incorporate a lot of green,” Lauren told PEOPLE. “Nashville is really green, and then I’m from Oregon so that’s kind of how I wanted it to feel. I wanted it to have a secret garden kind of feel…really romantic.”
A cocktail hour followed the ceremony. A formal dinner was served afterward that featured roast chicken, beef filets, Parmesan risotto, asparagus and strawberry shortcake for dessert along with a traditional white wedding cake, with salted caramel buttercream filling.
Lauren and Chris danced their first dance as a married couple to Lane’s proposal song, “Big, Big Plans.”
“Chris wrote it, and it was inspired by our relationship, and it has such a special meaning to us,” Bushnell says, “so I don’t think we could really dance to anything else.”
