Ventriloquist and singer Darci Lynne won Season 12 of America’s Got Talent when she was only 12 years old. She’s since toured across the country, had her own Christmas special, and has appeared on multiple TV series.
Now 17, Lynne is taking another big step forward in her career. On February 9, Lynne announced she is starring in her first movie!
“GUYS!!! I am beyond excited to announce that I will be making my very first movie debut in the upcoming film A Cowgirl’s Song!” Lynne said. She shared a photo of the movie’s poster as well.
Lynne said her character’s name is Brook Mays, and she’s “so excited” for people to meet her.

Broadway World describes the premise of A Cowgirl’s Song as follows:
“…a coming-of-age drama that follows an aspiring but adrift teen singer who goes to live with her grandmother, once a COUNTRY MUSIC legend, but has fallen on hard times after the death of her husband five years earlier. Together they overcome adversity and find redemption through their love of music.”
The movie will be released in theaters and on digital platforms on April 22. So with it’s release date fast-approaching, Lynne took to social media to share its official trailer.
Lynne’s character is the kind and encouraging sister of the movie’s main character, who is played by Savannah Lee May. The trailer shows May’s character struggling to overcome her stage fright. But her retired country singer grandmother, who is played by Cheryl Ladd, helps her conquer her fear.
It seems like Lynne plays a pretty important role in the movie, because she’s featured in the trailer a lot! Check it out below.
We’re glad Lynne shared this sneak peek into her first movie. Who else is looking forward to its debut?
