Former president Donald Trump returned to the spotlight Monday night with a triumphant appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Roughly 48 hours after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, the former president of the United States entered the Fiserv Forum Arena to thunderous applause. Trump could be seen with a bandaged right ear as he entered the venue while Lee Greenwood sang his patriotic hit “God Bless The USA.”
The appearance comes two days after a gunman opened fire at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania while Donald Trump was speaking. The 78-year-old presidential candidate was struck in the ear. Corey Comperator, an attendee, was killed in the shooting and two others, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were wounded. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by the Secret Service within seconds of his gun being fired.

Despite being injured, Trump raised his fist to the crowd and yelled, “Fight, fight,” as his security detail escorted him off stage and into a waiting vehicle.
Donald Trump’s appearance at the Republican National Convention Monday further showed that he isn’t going to let fear and attempts on his life curtail his path to a second term as president.
Country legend Lee Greenwood had the honor of introducing Trump. Greenwood sang the first verse of his iconic song, “God Bless The USA,” before telling the crowd, “We are here tonight for one purpose. To elect Donald J. Trump as president of the United States. He is here tonight to show his courage, his defiance against somebody who tried to kill him. You will not take this man down. He has the courage, the strength, and he will be the next president of the United States.”
Donald Trump appeared strong but somber, almost as if he were overwhelmed by the support. He is scheduled to speak on the final day of the four-day convention where he will officially accept the Republican nomination for president.
