In March, Jeopoardy!‘s leading man Alex Trebek addressed fans to share some important news. Through a video message, the beloved trivia show host announced that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.
“Now normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this,” Trebek said. The longtime Jeopardy! host also made it clear that he would continue working while he received treatment.
In May, Trebek had what he called a “mind-boggling” update on his cancer battle to share with People. During that interview, Trebek said that treatment has been successful, and doctors are amazed to see that his cancer is now in “near remission.”
Trebek has received an outpouring of love and support after revealing his diagnosis. Even James Holzhauer, the Jeopardy! star who won 32 straight games and earned over $2 million, honored Trebek and his battle.
Holzhauer donated part of his winnings to the Naperville Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk in honor of Trebek. His donation encouraged others to follow suit, and they too donated in Trebek’s name.
Now, it’s been a few months since Trebek has offered a full update on his cancer battle. But based on some recent photos that were posted to the Jeopardy! Instagram, he appears to be doing well.
The show posted a slideshow of photos showing Trebek with his family and friends to honor an extremely special occasion…his birthday! He turned 79 on Sunday (July 22).
Trebek was all smiles in the photos from his birthday celebration. You can view the pictures by flipping through the slideshow below.

The show later shared an additional photo taken on set, which shows Trebek wearing one of his signature suits while posing next to a birthday cake.
Appropriately, the cake was Jeopardy! themed, and posed the question “Who is 79?” on the cake’s middle layer. The top featured a large question mark, while the bottom layer portrayed the Jeopardy! logo.
