Early morning on June 18, Justin Timberlake was arrested on DWI (driving while intoxicated) charges.

The 43-year-old singer was taken into custody after being pulled over for swerving while driving and running a stop sign. Timberlake was reportedly leaving The American Hotel in Sag Harbor, New York, after having dinner there.

Timberlake performed a few field sobriety tests but refused the breathalyzer test. He was then placed in handcuffs and arrested at 12:37 a.m. before being taken to Sag Harbor Police Headquarters.

Thankfully, no one got hurt.

According to the arrest report obtained by PEOPLE, Timberlake told officers that he’d only had one drink before driving.

“I had one martini, and I followed my friends home.”

The report also revealed more details on Timberlake’s arrest.

A police officer had been on routine patrol when they observed Timberlake’s 2025 BMW blow through a stop sign and “fail to keep on the right side of the roadway.”

Initiating a traffic stop, the officer stated that Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

While being processed at the police station, authorities read the alcohol influence report to Timberlake, to which he responded, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.” The report was allegedly read to him a second and third time, and he said, “I refuse,” both times.

Timberlake was charged with one count of DWI and two different citations, one for failure to keep in lane and the other for running a stop sign.

Justin Timberlake has since been released from custody.

After being held overnight, Timberlake was arraigned and released without bail on Tuesday morning (June 18).

Another source revealed to PEOPLE that during his arraignment, Timberlake was handcuffed “with his hands in front of him.” They also said that he was accompanied by criminal defense attorney Ed Burke Jr. who is representing Timberlake.
