Following Nicole Kidman‘s appearance last week on the Ellen DeGeneres show where she revealed husband Keith Urban took four months before calling her, the country singer has finally put the record straight.
“I remember thinking I had such a crush on him and he wasn’t interested in me,” recalled Kidman of the night her and Urban first met. “It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months!”
“How is that possible?” Asked a shocked DeGeneres.
The talkshow host went on to ask what his reasoning for never contacting her was, and Kidman revealed she actually never asked, explaining it’s best to not drudge up issues of the past. After catching wind of the conversation between his wife and DeGeneres, Urban decided to finally reveal why he took so long to contact the Oscar-winning actress.
“That’s the longest story,” Urban shared with CBS on the Grammy Awards’ red carpet according to Fox News. “Have you ever met anyone who you thought was completely our of your league?”
Unfortunately, Kidman was unable to attend the Grammys with Urban due to a prior commitment to the BAFTAs in London, but we’re sure someone passed the message along to her!
The Aussie superstars met at the 2005 G’Day USA gala honoring Australians, even capturing a picture together that night. Even though there was a four month gap between their initial meeting, the couple married the following year in June of 2006.
Fast forward two years and they were welcoming their first born daughter, Sunday Rose, into the world on July 7, 2008. A short two years later they welcomed home their second daughter into the world on December 28, 2010. In addition to their two shared children, Urban played a fundamental role in the raising of Kidman’s two adopted children from her previous marriage to actor Tom Cruise.
Ten years and two children later, you would think they would begin to lose some steam. But that’s the furthest from the truth. Kidman is currently up for an Oscar for her moving role in Lion where she plays the role of an adoptive mother to a boy separated from his family, while Urban just finished up his Ripcord World Tour at the end of December alongside Carrie Underwood.
