Kelly Clarkson is less than a year in to hosting her namesake talk show, and she’s already won an award for it!
The 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards were held during a two-hour special on CBS on Friday (June 26). Clarkson’s talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, was up for the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show award, but lost to The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
However, Clarkson didn’t walk away from the virtual awards ceremony empty-handed. She won the award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host!
Clarkson celebrated her big win through a series of tweets.
“OH MY GOSH!!!!!! What is happening?!!!! This is amazing!!! Thank y’all so much!!!” Clarkson wrote in her first tweet about her Emmy win. She then went on to thank the team that works on her show.
“I can’t wait to celebrate with our whole crew when humans can congregate again!! This calls for a PARTY!!!!” she said.

Clarkson continued to celebrate her Emmy win by retweeting congratulatory messages from people such as Hoda Kotb and Seth Meyers.
She also retweeted a post made by the official Daytime Emmys page, which noted how Clarkson is halfway to achieving EGOT status. (Someone is declared an EGOT winner after winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony).
Clarkson has now won an Emmy and has three Grammys, so she just needs an Oscar and a Tony to become an EGOT winner!
Clarkson comically called out her fellow Voice coach John Legend, who is an EGOT winner, saying, “Watch out @johnlegend I’m comin’ for that EGOT status.”
Watch out @johnlegend I’m comin’ for that EGOT status 🤣😂 https://t.co/5uFNEqn5g5

Clarkson also took the time to thank her estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock, for encouraging her to become a talk show host in the first place.
“Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show…” Clarkson wrote. She filed for divorce from Blackstock (who also serves as her manager) earlier in June.
Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show and @lifeofT for being the greatest friend/assistant #BestEmilyICouldHaveAskedFor 🤣 #DaytimeEmmys2020

Congratulations to Clarkson! She has worked so hard on her talk show over the past year, and now her hard work has been rewarded.
We can’t wait to see what else she and The Kelly Clarkson Show crew have to offer!
