On Monday (August 29), Kelsea Ballerini announced she and her husband, fellow country artist Morgan Evans, are divorcing after nearly five years of marriage.
Ballerini shared the news in a post on her Instagram Story. She said:
“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce. This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end. It’s hard to find the words here, but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons. With very active schedules coming up, please be mindful that we are both fragile, actively healing, and showing up the best we can.“
Evans shared the news on his own Instagram Story a few hours later. He said:
“I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways. I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.”
Ballerini remained quiet on social media for a little while after announcing her split from Evans. She finally broke her silence when she shared a new post on Wednesday (August 31).
The photo shows Ballerini sitting on a rock while looking out at the sunset. She wrote, “right where i’m at with what i have” in the caption.

Ballerini also shared a new picture on her Instagram Story. The picture shows her out in nature with her dog, Dibs.
She didn’t write a caption for the photo. But she did include a single white heart emoji above Dibs’ head.
The following day, Ballerini shared a post announcing the release of a new song, “What I Have.” It appears the caption she used in her prior post references lyrics from the song.

The news of Ballerini and Evans’ divorce comes as Ballerini is gearing up to release her new album, Subject to Change, on September 23. Subject to Change contains the already released singles “Heartfirst” and “Love Is a Cowboy.”
