Luke Loves Singing Covers
If you’ve ever been to a Luke Bryan show before, you know that the man loves his cover songs. He always dedicates part of his concerts to covers of various genres, from old-school country, to his peers’ hits, and even a little pop here and there.
Fans have come expect a high-quality cover performance from Luke every time, especially when he takes to the stage at his annual Crash My Playa festival in Mexico.
In past years, Luke has invited his friends and fellow headliners to join him on stage for his covers, resulting in some pretty spectacular performances. During the 2018 festival, he had his good buddy Blake Shelton up on stage for a rowdy rendition of the George Strait classic, “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”
Based on how much the crowd loved that performance, Bryan decided to bring up another cowboy hat-wearing artist’s songs for his 2019 installment of Crash My Playa. Diving into the iconic 90s country era, Bryan dug up two of Tim McGraw‘s biggest hits…”Where the Green Grass Grows” and “I Like It, I Love It.”
Both songs were chart-toppers for McGraw, and are still staple parts of his concert sets. Everywhere he travels, fans can be heard singing along to the two tracks loud and proud, proving they’ve stood the test of time.
A Special Guest Brings Extra Fun
You can bet that there was quite the sing-along going on once Bryan brought the two songs to Crash My Playa. The medley performance was made all the more entertaining with the addition of a special guest…his longtime friend Dustin Lynch.
It was pretty much a no-brainer that Lynch was going to make an appearance for the festival’s fifth year. He had performed there every year prior!
But what fans weren’t expecting was a 90s country performance between the Opry member and Bryan.
The duo took turns singing the two McGraw hits, occasionally singing solo and other times singing together. They kept things a little low-key for their performance of “Where the Green Grass Grows.”
Instead of staying far away from the crowd, the duo came right to the front of the stage and sat down, allowing them to get up close and personal with their fans
Becoming Part Of The Party
But the party kicked into full force once the duo sang “I Like It, I Love It.” They brought some serious energy to the stage, and Bryan upped the ante by jamming along on his guitar.
Everyone watching got a kick out of Bryan and Lynch’s cover, as you can tell by how loud they were singing along. Check out a fan-filmed video of the performance below!
If Lynch comes back for Crash My Playa in future years, we want him to keep singing covers with Bryan. They make one fun team!
