Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney have one of the strongest and longest-lasting friendships in all of country music. When Lambert’s career was just gaining steam, Chesney invited her to join him as the opening act on his tour in 2009. Although Lambert has been headlining her own shows for years now, she still jumped at the chance when Chesney invited her to join him on tour yet again.
Lambert has appeared on select dates of Chesney’s Spread the Love Tour, and she’s loved every minute of it. As she told a local Detroit radio station prior to a show there, “I’m so thankful to be on his tour, I would do that, all year, every year. He’s just…it’s a great crowd, it’s a great family atmosphere, and I learn something every time I watch him.”
Since they are so close, Lambert and Chesney have been subject to their fair share of romance rumors. But Chesney assured fans during an interview with EW that they’re simply great friends. “When we see each other, it’s like we never left,” he said.
During Chesney’s Spread the Love Tour, he and Lambert have collaborated on his song “You and Tequila,” which originally featured rock artist Grace Potter. Chesney and Lambert’s duet on the song has always been a highlight of his shows, but their performance on Saturday (August 20) was one that no one in the crowd will forget any time soon.
You could hardly hear Lambert and Chesney singing above the voices of the crowd, who knew every word to the song. But it’s as if Lambert and Chesney had no idea that anyone else was there, because they seemed to be in their own little world, just living in the moment.
At one point, Chesney reached out his arm and pulled Lambert next to him. Lambert cuddled up closer to Chesney and rested her head on his shoulder as they continued singing, and they remained like that for some time.
Once they finished singing, the two embraced yet again, both with huge smiles on their faces. You likely won’t be able to wipe the smile off of your face after you watch Lambert and Chesney’s sweet duet in the video below.
Lambert and Chesney are lucky to have found great friends in each other. Friendships like theirs are one in a million!
