Just two days after Valentine’s Day 2019, Miranda Lambert shocked all of her fans when she announced she was married.

In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news,” she wrote in a post on Instagram along with some of her wedding photos. “I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full.”

Lambert introduced her new husband as Brendan McLoughlin, a NYPD officer. She met him just three months prior to their wedding when she and the Pistol Annies performed on Good Morning America in New York City to promote their album, Interstate Gospel.

In an interview with The New York Times, Lambert said her Pistol Annies bandmates, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, were actually the ones who set her and McLoughlin up.

“My husband was doing security there for the show. My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone. They invited him to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me,” Lambert said.

Since then, Lambert and McLoughlin have showcased their love on the red carpet and in various posts to Lambert’s social profiles. Although Lambert has been fairly open when it comes to sharing their love, she previously hadn’t said much about their secret January 26th, 2019 nuptials.

Finally, Lambert shared a few details about her wedding in a interview with People in October 2019.

It seems that Lambert’s wedding was even more private than anyone believed. When asked if her Pistol Annies bandmates attended, Lambert said they did not.

I didn’t have nobody,” she said. “That was mine and his moment.”

Lambert also explained why she chose to marry McLoughlin in secret.

Referencing her 2011 marriage and 2015 divorce from Blake Shelton, Lambert said:

“I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce.”

Because of this, when she was ready to marry McLoughlin, Lambert desired more privacy than she had when she married Shelton. That’s why she kept her second wedding a secret, and hoped it could stay that way for a while.

I learned then that it’s not for everybody else,” Lambert said about her wedding. “This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could.”

Lambert succeeded in keeping her marriage private for a few weeks before she announced the news. She let her new relationship and time spent in New York City influence her music, and crafted a new record, titled Wildcard.

Wildcard was released on November 1, 2019. The record’s lead single was “It All Comes Out in the Wash,” and you can catch its official music video below.

With new music and a new love, Lambert seems as happy as can be!
