Almost a year after his wife’s death, the famed pop/country singer and the ex-wife of ‘The King’ have finally addressed the rumors that they are dating.
Iconic Welsh pop singer, Sir Tom Jones, and Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, have been spotted together during some recent outings – particularly one in Hollywood where the pair attended dinner at Craig’s Eatery.
Jones and Presley have known each other for decades and first met when Elvis and Jones became close friends back in the mid-60s and they remained close until The King’s untimely death in August 1977.
Tom Jones and Elvis Presley were fast friends as they began performing in Las Vegas around the same time and met during a filming of Elvis’ movie, Paradise, Hawaiian Style. They would spend vast amounts of time together throughout their lives and especially during their performances in Vegas, often duetting into the morning hours at Elvis’ private penthouse suite.
Jones’ wife of nearly 60 years passed away at a Los Angeles area hospital in April 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Since that time, Jones has continued to make appearances and tour while also maintaining his coaching position on the UK’s version of The Voice.
Priscilla Presley and Elvis were married just six years, but together for 14 and welcomed a beautiful daughter into the world during that time. Similar to Jones, Presley has been quite busy herself and recently pulled the wraps off of one of the biggest ventures of her life with the grand opening of The Guest House at Graceland – a massive hotel and complex featuring restaurants, shops, venues, and more.
Upon being asked about their recent Hollywood dinner together, Jones said to The Sun, “We have been friends for a long time. She’s a lovely lady. We do enjoy our nights out together.”
That coy remark only furthered the rumors that had been swirling in recent weeks after their public outings together. Recently, a rep for the longtime pop, rock, and country singer spoke out finally addressing the rumors and revealing what is going on between the two.
In a statement to People Magazine, a spokesperson for Jones issued a statement via the ITV television network press offices explained their relationship.
“Priscilla Presley and Tom have known each other for many, many years,” the spokesperson said. “They are part of a wider social group that occasionally meet up for an evening out. There is no more to the story than that.”
