The larger world was first introduced to Ray and Roslyn Singleton in 2020. Roslyn was diagnosed with brain cancer, and had to undergo surgery. Ray shared a video of himself singing to his wife before her operation, and that video went viral online.
After the video went viral, the couple was invited to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Viewers learned more about their story, including the fact that Roslyn had been undergoing cancer treatments since 2013.
The following year (2021), Ray auditioned for the 16th season of America’s Got Talent. Before he performed, Ray told the judges he was there because of Roslyn. He said, “She’s a U.S. Navy veteran, she is also a brain cancer survivor.”
Ray went on to deliver an emotional performance. Roslyn could be seen crying backstage as she watched him sing. She eventually joined him onstage, saying, “I’ve never heard him sing so good.”
The judges all agreed that Ray was super talented, and voted to send him on to the next stage of the competition.
Ray was eventually eliminated during the deliberations. But he and Roslyn have continued to touch people’s hearts since they appeared on AGT.
Sadly, Roslyn passed away on November 15 at the age of 39. Ray shared the sad news in a post on social media, writing:
“WELL DONE!! Our wife earned her wings yesterday while peacefully sleeping right at home where she wanted to be…She taught us all SOMETHING…She’s where we’re all trying to get one day so no need to be sad! Now we celebrate her legacy, her impact, her story & HER SPIRIT! She will LIVE FOREVER!!“

Our hearts go out to Ray and to all of Roslyn’s loved ones. May she rest in peace…
