Singer and ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer wowed the America’s Got Talent judges when she auditioned for the show’s 12th season in 2017. She was only 12 years old at the time.
Mel B was so impressed with Darci’s act, she awarded her the Golden Buzzer. The video of Darci’s audition and her reaction to receiving Mel B’s golden buzzer went viral on YouTube, and generated millions of views.
It went on to place fourth on YouTube’s list of the top 10 trending videos for the year.
Farmer’s audition was a good indication that she was going to make it far on AGT. The fans voted her all the way through to the finale, and she was eventually crowned the winner of the season.
The season ended on September 20, 2017, and Farmer celebrated her 13th birthday three weeks later.
Since then, Farmer has returned to AGT many times, both as a guest performer and as a contestant. In 2019, she competed on the debut season of the AGT spinoff The Champions, and was named the runner-up.
This year Farmer appeared as a guest on the 15th season of AGT, and performed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” with her new puppet, a one-eyed Australian puppet named Ivan.
If you hadn’t been keeping up on Farmer’s career since she won AGT back in 2017, you were probably shocked to see how grown up she looks now. So you’ll probably be even more shocked to hear that she just celebrated her 16th birthday on Monday (October 12)!
The newly 16-year-old Farmer celebrated the big day in her life by sharing a series of photos on social media. She posed in front of a car, signaling the fact that she can now be a licensed driver! She also held up two numbered balloons in honor of her sweet 16.
“She’s 16 ladies and gentlemen,” Farmer captioned the pictures. “Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes! It truly means the world!“

It’s hard to believe how fast Farmer has grown up!
