Is Blake Shelton Getting Ready To Release A New Album?

Blake Shelton‘s fans are freaking out (in a good way) after the singer shared a cryptic post on social media on Tuesday (March 11). Many fans hope the post, which came with no explanation, means the former Voice coach is gearing up to release a new album.

Those hopes aren’t unfounded. Shelton dropped his latest single, “Texas,” in November 2024. The track helped him break a personal record, leading to the highest number of first-week radio adds in his career.

The release of “Texas” came shortly after Shelton signed with a new record label (BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville).

Before “Texas,” Shelton hadn’t released a solo single since 2022’s “No Body.” He released a duet, “Purple Irises,” with his wife, Gwen Stefani, in early 2024.

Later that same year, Shelton released a collaboration with Post Malone. Their song, “Pour Me a Drink,” reached #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Shelton has given Post Malone credit for inspiring him to make new music. He told PEOPLE:

“Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your a–! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”

Blake Shelton’s Cryptic Post Sparks Hilarious Reactions From Friends And Fans

After all of that leadup, fans went wild when Shelton shared his cryptic post on social media. The simple post contains nothing but a plain orange square and doesn’t have a caption. Shelton also changed his profile picture to the orange square.

His fans and friends’ reactions were priceless:

Shelton’s former Voice team member and current tour opener Emily Ann Roberts wrote, “Omg do we have a Vols fan on our hands?!?!?!?

His Ole Red bar and restaurant commented, “It ain’t red but we’ll allow it.”

One follower wrote, “Blake got a new Kubota…?

Another fan said, “Have you signed with Nickelodeon?

Many of Shelton’s other followers simply expressed excitement (and confusion):

“WHAT IS HAPPENING.”

“BLAKE WHAT IS THIS.”

“ummm sir what’s going on?!?!?!”

“Something is happening…OMG please let it be related to the new album coming.”

“Such a tease omg end our misery we got work to do.”

Then, the following day (March 12), Shelton shared another puzzling post. This one contained the same orange square, this time with the letters “FRUO” in a simple white font.

Shelton didn’t provide any additional context, but the account for his Ole Red bar commented, “Sooo what do y’all think it stands for?”

This left fans with even more questions as they tried to guess what “FRUO” means.

“is it supposed to be FOUR?????”

“I don’t have enough brain cells for this but I’m excited.”

“Wonder if it is a collaboration with 3 other artists.”

“BLAKE WHAT IS THE TEA??? WHATS HAPPENING.”

“Gwen’s having her fourth baby?”

Fans didn’t have to wait too long for some kind of answer. Shelton revealed the meaning behind the four letters in a new post on Thursday (March 13).

The post read, “FOR RECREATIONAL USE ONLY.” Could this be the name of his next album?

Even if these recent posts don’t hint at a new album, Shelton should be releasing one soon. He confirmed in December that he’s been working on a new project.
