On September 14, Jonathan Daniels surprised his girlfriend, Lindsay, with a pair of Blake Shelton tickets for her 23rd birthday. That’s when they started counting down the days until Blake’s concert in Brooklyn, New York on October 8.
But they never got to go to the concert. On September 15, just a day after Lindsay’s birthday, Jonathan was involved in a terrifying motorcycle accident. A car pulled out in front of Jonathan and his friends and struck Jonathan, throwing him into a telephone pole.
Jonathan was unable to move following the accident, and first responders said his injuries were life-threatening. Both of his lungs collapsed, his liver was lacerated, and he had bleeding on the brain. Everyone had a feeling that Jonathan wouldn’t make it through the night.
But he did, and Lindsay remained by his side throughout his entire recovery. Seeing how devoted Lindsay was to him, Jonathan hated that she had to miss Blake’s concert. That’s when he decided to reach out to Blake on social media to see if he could help make Lindsay’s dream to see him come true.
There was a huge push on social media to get Jonathan’s message to Blake. It paid off, because Blake responded in a video message he directed to the couple.
After wrapping up a show on Jimmy Kimmel, Blake reached out to Jonathan and Lindsay, saying how sorry he was to hear about what had happened. “I’m very sorry about the accident,” he said. “And I hope you recover soon, and you’re feeling better.”
He promised Jonathan and Lindsay that once Jonathan felt well enough, they could have a pair of tickets to any of his concert they wanted to go to. “And don’t rush, for God sakes, take your time getting well and getting ready,” Blake said.
Blake also told the couple that he definitely wanted to meet them whenever they are able to come to one of his concerts. He closed off his message by wishing them a happy holiday season and once again shared his wishes for Jonathan’s recovery.
After working so hard to make sure that his message reached Blake, Jonathan was excited to finally hear from him. He shared Blake’s video message on his Facebook, writing how grateful he is for everyone who helped him on his quest to get Blake’s attention.
“I am beyond grateful to everyone who has helped us share this and get it to Blake!!” he said. “He is an amazing man with a huge heart! Thank you everyone!!!”
