During the 2020 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Keith Urban treated a small crowd to a performance of a new song. Titled “God Whispered Your Name,” the new tune is expected to appear on a future project of Urban’s.
Urban delivered the performance during Team UMG luncheon at the Ryman Auditorium. The annual luncheon brings business insiders, journalists, and radio programmers together to hear exclusive performances and stories from some of Universal Music Group’s artists.

Another artist who also performed during the event was Carrie Underwood. She sang her track “Spinning Bottles,” which appears on her 2018 album, Cry Pretty.
The album itself was recently certified Platinum, meaning it sold a total of one million units.
During another CRS event, Underwood was surprised with a Platinum plaque to commemorate Cry Pretty‘s accomplishment. She teared up at the sight of the plaque, and spoke about how much the album meant to her.

Cry Pretty was clearly a huge success. But before that, Underwood was tearing up the charts with a song that appeared on another artist’s album. The artist was Urban and the song was “The Fighter.”
“The Fighter” was a hit long before it was ever released as a single. That’s because a video Urban posted of himself lip syncing the song with his wife, Nicole Kidman, went viral.
So when “The Fighter” finally became a single, it took off. Urban and Underwood performed it on a number of awards shows, including the Grammys and the CMT Music Awards.
The duo decided to change the song up during the latter performance. Instead of singing it in its normal upbeat style, the pair delivered a more ballad-like rendition of the song.
With their busy schedules, Urban and Underwood haven’t always been able to unite to sing “The Fighter” live. The last time they delivered a live performance together was back in August 2018 when Underwood came on stage during Urban’s Graffiti U World Tour.
After nearly two years, the friends finally reunited to sing “The Fighter” live during the UMG luncheon at the Ryman. Their performance was impromptu, so when Urban called Underwood up on stage, she warned everyone that they didn’t have time to rehearse.
“No soundcheck on this one, guys,” she joked.
But if she hadn’t said anything, no one ever would have known that Urban and Underwood had gone nearly two years without singing “The Fighter” together. Their performance was just as polished as ever.
