Trisha Yearwood recently celebrated the release of her new cookbook, Trisha’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family, and was joined for a celebration by her sister, some of her tv show staff and fellow country singer Lauren Alaina.
On Wednesday, Yearwood shared footage of an impromptu singalong that took place between herself and Alaina on the set of Yearwood’s cooking show. The clip shows the pair belting out Trisha’s 1992 hit, “Walkaway Joe.”
As the song wraps, Alaina adorably goes into full fan girl mode, exclaiming, “That made my whole life. Also, get her cookbook!”
Lauren also shared the clip and captioned it, saying: “We COOKED up a good time last night celebrating the release of #TrishasKitchen in Trisha’s kitchen. I got to WALKAWAY with the biggest smile on my face. Y’all go get her new cookbook now!! Junior loves you, @trishayearwood ?.”

“Walkaway Joe” was the second release from Trisha Yearwood’s second studio album, Hearts in Armor. The song never reached the top of the charts, but has become one of the singer’s most popular and beloved songs in the nearly three decades since its release.
In recent years, the video for “Walkaway Joe” has seen a surge in popularity after fans realized that it was none other than Hollywood A-lister Matthew McConaughey who starred in it. In an interview with Kelly Clarkson, McConaughey revealed how he came to be cast in the role and shared that he never actually met Trisha Yearwood.
“Well, ‘Walkaway Joe,’ I think it was early 1992, I’m going to college here at the University of Texas — this was before ‘Dazed and Confused’ — and I was trying to get odd jobs in front of the camera when I could and I got cast in that music video to play Joe,” he told the talk show host.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Yearwood also shared that she had never met the actor.
“He was cast from local talent in Austin, Texas, where the footage was shot. The performance with Don Henley was shot in Nashville, so I never met Matthew.“
