Their love story dates back all the way to kindergarten. Scotty McCreery and his now-wife, Gabi Dugal met in their hometown of Garner, North Carolina. Although the two locked eyes at a young age, they began seriously dating their senior year of high school. After graduation, Dugal attended the University of North Carolina while McCreery attended North Carolina State University. Aside from going to different schools, their relationship remained strong.

Their Growing Love Story
In 2011, McCreery went on to win the tenth season of American Idol with Dugal in full support of his career. In a 2017 interview, he gushed to CMT about her,
“She’s a rock for me and understands me like nobody else. She’s really been there through thick and thin with me and she’s just awesome. I can’t say enough nice things about her. She’s another grounding force for me.”
In late summer of 2017, McCreery got down on one knee and popped the question to his long-time love. The proposal went down at one of their favorite places to go together: the North Carolina mountains. McCreery even helped with the design of the ring, it being specifically made just for her.

The Big Day
Their big day came soon after when the couple officially tied the knot on June 16, 2018. The most beautiful outdoor wedding was accompanied by 200 of their closest friends and family in the North Carolina mountains. McCreery wrote his hit song, “This Is It” based on their fairytale love story, just two weeks before the proposal. The music video for the song featured a series of emotional clips from their wedding day leaving fans teary-eyed by the end.

An Endless Love Story
Six months later and the couple is still more in love than ever. McCreery posted a heartfelt picture collection in celebration of their anniversary.
“Today marks 6 incredible months with my beautiful bride. Feels like just yesterday we were up in the North Carolina mountains saying I do. Love you more & more every single day! Thanks for doing life with me!”
