One of country music’s biggest stars is heading to The Voice!
In past seasons, The Voice has welcomed a music superstar to serve as a key advisor to the contestants during the knockout rounds. Country artists are often selected to serve the role, with past key advisors being Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
But The Voice decided to go with a change of pace this season and did not have a key advisor to help contestants prepare for the knockouts. Instead, the key advisor will now help coach the final 12 contestants at the end of the month.
Keeping with the pattern of country artists taking on the key advisor role, it was announced on Thursday (April 13) that Shania Twain will be this season’s key advisor!
The Voice made a smart choice in selecting Twain as the key advisor for this season. She is one of the most successful country artists of all time, with five Grammy Awards and over 85 million records sold. Her third studio album, Come On Over is also the best-selling country album of all time and the best-selling album by a female artist of any genre.
In a nutshell, it seems safe to say that Twain knows a thing or two about how to excel in the music business. As a successful crossover artist, Twain’s experience won’t be exclusive to the country contestants on the show, making her a valuable advisor to everyone.
Twain was the one who announced her new role on The Voice through a post on social media. She shared how she was looking forward to the opportunity, writing, “Excited to announce that I’ll appear on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ later this month, as a mentor to the twelve finalists.” CMT’s Cody Alan also reported on Twain’s role on the show.

The first week of live shows will start airing on Monday (April 17). Following the performances, fans will have the chance to vote for their favorite contestant to move through to the next phase of the competition. The final 12 contestants will then be revealed during the results show on Tuesday (April 18).
That’s when Twain will step in! She will film during the contestants’ rehearsals leading up to the next live show on April 24.
Knowing how The Voice has done things in the past, we’re sure we’ll see plenty of behind-the-scenes clips and bloopers from Twain’s time on the show. Until then, enjoy this blooper reel from earlier in the season, when the coaches goofed around with their team advisors for the battle rounds.
Who else is excited to see Twain on The Voice?
