Y: Marshals Makes Massive Casting Announcement And Introduces New Characters

The upcoming Yellowstone spin-off Y: Marshals is making some major moves, as it recently added seven stars to the cast. Four of those stars are new additions, while three others are returning to reprise their roles from Yellowstone.

Y: Marshals is a new series coming to CBS in 2026. The show will follow John Dutton‘s son, Kayce, as he takes off on a new path in life as a member of an elite group of U.S. Marshals.

Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce, promised fans they’d see some “familiar faces” from Yellowstone on Y: Marshals. However, a new actor, Logan Marshall-Green, was the first confirmed cast member besides Luke. Logan will play a character named Pete Calvin, a friend of Kayce’s from his military days.

Then, on August 26, Y: Marshals shared a huge casting announcement. Deadline reports that Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means have been cast as series regulars. They will play a host of new characters, named Belle, Andrea, and Miles, who are all members of the U.S. Marshals.

Another new star, Brett Cullen, has been cast as a recurring character named Harry Gifford. Deadline describes Harry as the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana.

Three Yellowstone Stars Join The Cast Of The Kayce Dutton Spin-Off, Although Someone Notable Is Missing From The Announcement

Additionally, three Yellowstone alums have joined the cast of Y: Marshals. Deadline confirmed that Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, and Mo Brings Plenty will reprise their roles as Thomas Rainwater, Tate Dutton, and Mo. All have been cast as series regulars.

However, one major player was noticeably missing from Deadline‘s report. The casting announcement did not include Kelsey Asbille, who played Kayce’s wife Monica across Yellowstone‘s five seasons.

This raises questions about Monica’s fate, especially since Brecken Merrill, who plays her and Kayce’s son Tate, has joined the show. Did something happen to Monica, and Kayce is left to raise Tate alone? Or will Monica still be present in the Dutton boys’ lives without appearing onscreen?

Of course, the fact that Kelsey’s name wasn’t included in this recent announcement doesn’t mean she isn’t part of the show. It could simply mean her involvement has not been confirmed yet, or she’s still working out her contract.

Stay tuned for any future updates on Y: Marshals and whether Kelsey Asbille will join the series. In the meantime, revisit the timeline of Kayce and Monica’s relationship in the video below.
