A Legendary Season

Season 16 of The Voice has arrived and there’s a new coach in town. Sharing the panel alongside Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine is ten-time Grammy Award-winning, John Legend. As the competition begins, it’s obvious that John has brought the heat! Tensions rose as one of the blind auditions brought all four judges to their feet – fighting for his pick.

A Worship Win

Matthew Johnson took the stage for the audition of a lifetime. Singing the gospel melody “I Smile,” he stunned Shelton from the very first note. As Shelton turned for the jazzy rendition, Levine wasn’t far behind. Not even 30 seconds into his audition and he had already been loved by two out of the four coaches.

It was no surprise though – this guy literally had the voice of an angel. His performance was full of rhythm, runs, and unbelievable talent. As he soared throughout the song, Legend slammed on his button almost in sync with Clarkson’s quick reaction. As the judges turned to see Johnson, they were overwhelmed with smiles as his stage presence was phenomenal.

The Tough Decision

Following his incredible rendition, all of the judges fought to get a word in with the singer. While Legend charmed him and Shelton joked with him, it was clear this was going to be a tough pick. As each coach tried to persuade their way into Johnson’s heart – he ultimately had made his decision.
