After being involved in an off and on relationship for years, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth finally married in December 2018. The intimate wedding was held at the couple’s home in Tennessee, and was attended by a few family members and close friends.

Now, less than a year after Miley and Liam said “I do,” they are going their separate ways. Miley’s rep issued the following statement to People about her split from Liam:
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
After news of the split went public, Miley seemed to address it through a post she made to Instagram. She shared two photos that show her standing on top of a mountain, and she used that setting as a metaphor for change, and why it’s simply a part of life.
“Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” Miley wrote. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of , which was once under water , connected with Africa , change is inevitable.”

While Miley was active on social media in the days after news of her separation was announced, Liam remained silent. The Daily Mail Australia claimed that it caught up with Liam while he was out and about with his brother and fellow actor, Chris Hemsworth, and that he issued the following brief statement about his split from Miley.
“You don’t understand what it’s like. I don’t want to talk about it mate,” the outlet quoted him as saying.
But now, Liam has finally broken his social media silence, and he wants everyone to know that he never said the above quote.
Alongside a gorgeous photo of a sunset, Liam wrote, “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false.”
At the start of his statement, he confirmed that he and Miley have gone their separate ways, and shared his well-wishes for her. “…I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he wrote.
